Bold & Bright: Spring Style Update

DUO’s latest tailored shoe collection has arrived! Featuring strong colours and beautiful textures descended straight from the catwalks for Spring 2012.

To keep your look sophisticated at any age try mixing one bright item with an otherwise monochrome outfit. Often colours are more flattering than wearing all black. Use one bold colour, such as a red, as the foundation of your outfit, mix in black or cream separates. Delphin is an updated ballerina style with luxurious snakeskin embossed suede and ruffled corsage and leather trim, available in taupe or black, the neutral tones will keep the look grounded but the gorgeous detailing adds panache.

Alternatively choose a bright shoe to liven up your look this season. A bright yet simple ballerina such as Jansen is surprisingly versatile, either match with a belt or scarf the same colour or choose a second complimentary bright shade. Jansen in fushia pink patent leather with cute bow and leather trim detail, looks fabulous teamed with this pleated jade skirt. DUO wins Top Employer Award

We’re hugely proud to have been awarded the Top Employer Award (SME category) by Workingmums.co.uk.

DUO scooped the award in recognition of our efforts at supporting working parents. The judges praised DUO’s array of policies aimed at supporting working parents and recognising the skills parents bought to the workplace. Other category winners include John Lewis Partnership and Prudential.

The Boot Special

Inspired by the catwalks of New York and Milan the design process starts a year in advance. Here our head designer Jemma explains the process if creating your DUO boots and explains the design process behind some of her favourites from this season’s collection:

	Maros: “I was inspired by the military trend, and designed Maros to expand our practical range, on trend Maros can be worn with fur, embroidery and maxi skirts. Like many of our rugged styles it has a strong injection moulded sole with a heavy tread, great for wet and cold weather”.
	Ziller: “Ziller’s nod to the classic Spanish riding boot and perfect everyday heel height delivers everything that many of our customers say that they love. We used textured leather on the leg with smooth leather on the foot and cuff to give it an individual twist”.
	Belice: “In my opinion the most elegant evening boot in the range this winter. Made from top grade suede with a perfectly proportioned last and heel, Belice combines comfort and height. The super soft suede melts into your leg shape like a second skin.”
	Sillaro: “we wanted to create a sophisticated boot with texture using very soft vegetable dyed leather. They added leg lengthening plaits into the upper and a piped edge to give a real feeling of affordable luxury.”
	Marta: Many of you have told us that they love our mid heel heights so we have designed Martha for you. This classic DUO last with a round toe has been updated this season with contemporary heel.”

At DUO our boots are designed in the UK and manufactured in Europe. All designs go through rigorous fit testing. We have leg and foot measurements for all our staff and regularly get staff to try on styles for narrow calves and larger calves to ensure a great fit throughout our size range.

Wardrobe Economics: Instant wardrobe updates to wear all season

Avoid costly mistakes and do some wardrobe economics. Invest in some wardrobe staples for Autumn/Winter which have fantastic cost per wear . To calculate the cost per wear work out how often you are likely to wear an item and divide the cost by the number of wears. A £200 coat that you wear everyday during cooler months costs less than £2 per wear but a party top you wear once could cost you £50 for that one wear.
