CALF MEASUREMENTS

Once you have located a tape measure, sit down and place your feet flat on the floor in front of you. Download and print a measuring tape here.
Wrap the tape around the widest part of your calf, being careful to leave no gap, and measure to the nearest 1cm. Boot styles are either available in odd or even cm widths, if you find yourselves between measurements, we advise you to take the smaller measurement to ensure a snug fit. Leather is a natural material, it will give over time.
It is worth measuring both calves and, in the event there is a small difference between legs (there often is!), use the smaller measurement when placing your order.

BOOT HEIGHTS

Unless specified in the product description (e.g. ‘Over the knee’ boot), our boots are crafted to an appropriate height for the vast majority of women’s legs. The height of our knee length boots increases slightly with the shoe size, calf size and style of boot, ranging from 27cm in a mid-calf to 51cm in a full length boot (more for over-the-knee-styles). Boot height is the distance in a straight line from the bottom of your heel to the top of our boot.

If you are concerned about boot height or you would like to be sure the height of a boot style will be suitable for you please:

Check the boot height of your chosen boot - each product page displays the approx height of the boot displayed. Select a shoe size and a calf width and the boot height will automatically display, as shown in the example below:
Sit on a seat with your knee at 90 degrees and your feet flat on the floor.
Place the end of a tape measure touching the floor behind the bottom of your heel.
Measure straight up the back of your leg to the given boot height measurement. This will give you the approximate place that the boot will sit on your leg, (please note the boot should not sit right in the crease of the knee as this would be uncomfortable when the knee is bent).

Please quote your continental shoe size when ordering your DUO boots. We don’t yet offer half sizes so if you are between sizes please decide whether to go up or down according to your chosen style.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

I have wide/narrow feet, will your boots fit?

We craft our boots with a standard C fitting shoe in calf widths of 30-40cm. In calf widths 40-50cm we increase to a slightly wider shoe fitting. If you are unsure, please call us on +44 (0)845 070 5588 or email us enquiries@duoboots.com and we can advise on styles that might suit your foot best.  

I have wide/narrow ankles, will your boots fit?

The size of the ankle on many of our boots changes with the size of the leg and the foot. This offers you the kind of fit you would otherwise only find on a bespoke pair of boots. In most cases we can get the right fit for you first time. However, if your experience is that your ankles are particularly large or slim compared to your calves, please contact us with your ankle measurement before you order, so we can suggest styles that may fit your leg shape better. 

I am buying from DUO for the first time, is there anything I should bear in mind?

Slim heels - when buying a pair of boots or shoes with a slim heel, the pressure exerted on the heel is significant and the curvier the wearer, the quicker the rubber ‘heel tip’ will wear out. If you plan to wear narrow heeled boots/shoes over extended periods of time, be aware that you will need to replace the heel tips regularly and before the tips wear completely.  

Pointed styles - these boots or shoes can wear more quickly at the toe-piece. The tips should be replaced when they begin to look worn.  

Ankles - there needs to be space between your ankle and the boot to allow for freedom of movement. If they were made too tight in this area they would not be wearable, so expect some space.
