How do I care for my DUO boots and shoes?

Leather -
to keep your leather DUO wide and slim calf boots and shoes looking their best, polish them regularly. Not only will this keep them looking new but it will also protect them against water and scuffing. If you cannot find an accurate colour polish match for coloured leather, use a clear polish or wax for protection

Suede & nubuck – to keep your suede or nubuck DUO boots and shoes looking their best please use a spray suede protector before your first wear and at regular intervals. Use a suede brush to remove marks.

Patent leather – to keep your patent leather DUO shoes looking their best, remove marks with a damp cloth, and polish them with a soft, dry cloth.

‘Antiqued’ leather – Some DUO styles are hand crafted in antiqued leather, which is designed to look aged and worn. Dark or light marks can usually be removed by gently rubbing the leather.

Some DUO tips:

Heel tips - On narrow width heels, change the heel tip in good time to avoid wear on the heel itself. We include replacement heel tips with some DUO styles. If you find you have to replace the tips after just a few outings, consider taking them to a good cobbler to ask for them to be replaced with metal tips. Your cobbler will hold a supply.

Toe tips – Pointed styles can wear more quickly at the toe-piece. The toe tips should be replaced when they begin to look worn. Your cobbler will hold a supply.

Wet weather - leather has pores to help it breathe, it is water resistant not waterproof. Regular polishing with a wax polish will help protect against water damage. Suede and nubuck should be sprayed with a  good quality protective spray before you wear them, and again at regular intervals.

Heat and drying - all leather products are susceptible to heat damage. Never dry your boots or shoes with direct heat or leave them in a hot environment.

Storage - leather footwear should be stored in soft cloth or tissue paper, please don't store them in plastic bags.

Boot trees - all DUO boots are supplied with foam inners to maintain their shape in transit. However, investing in a pair of DUO boot trees will help to maintain your slim calf boots and wide calf boots in great condition. Buy DUO boot trees here.

Shoe trees – will maintain the shape of your shoes when not being worn.

Shoe horns – try to use shoe horns whenever possible when putting your shoes on to keep the heel guard from becoming damaged.

Zipping up your boots – very occasionally it is possible to trap the zip in the zip guard (the leather flap behind the zip). To prevent this happening, run your finger along the zip guard to make it flat each time you put them on.

Wear and tear – Please do not be tempted to wear high heels when driving and take care when walking over rough ground or gratings.
