how to measure yourself for DUO boots and shoes
How do I measure my calf?
Measuring your calves carefully and accurately helps us to get the right boots to you first time. Please give us your calf measurement to the nearest 1cm and we’ll carefully select the best fit for you in your chosen style. Some tips:
- Use a fabric tape measure and measure to the nearest centimetre. (Top tip: a piece of string and a ruler will do just as well!)
- Wrap the tape (or string, ribbon, phone charger, computer mouse cable etc etc) around the widest part of your calf, leaving no gap.
- Measure both calves and use the wider measurement when placing your order.
- If you regularly wear tights or long socks with boots, wear them when you measure. Similarly if you plan to wear trousers tucked into your boots, wear trousers when you measure to ensure the fit is generous enough to accomodate them.
- Most styles have a small elastic section at the top of the boot that allows at least 1cm stretch. Leather is a natural product and will give slightly as you wear them in. If you are in between sizes, and would prefer a tightly fitting boot, please choose the narrower calf fitting option. If in doubt, pick up the phone - we are here to help.
- If you’ve ordered before, we’ll already know your previous size measurements. However, we all change shape during the year, so please check your measurements again each time you order.

How do I measure my foot width?
Measuring your foot width carefully and accurately helps us to get the right shoes to you first time.
How to measure the width:
- If you usually wear socks or tights with your shoes, wear them when you measure your foot width.
- Take a fabric tape measure and place it on the floor cm side down (N.B. If you don’t have a tape measure you can use a piece of string, cut it or mark it off at the correct length, and then measure the piece of string with a ruler).
- Put your foot flat and stand firmly on the tape measure.
- Measure around the circumference of your foot at its widest point. This is usually from the bone just below your big toe, to the bone below your little toe (N.B. The tape measure should be at a slight angle).

- Take the measurement to the nearest 0.5cm.
- Foot size can vary, so measure both feet.
- Once you know your foot width, select your shoe size and choose from one of the foot width options.
Please note our sizing is just a guide. Some fittings may vary due to characteristics of different styles and different customers’ feet. Some customers may need to try a smaller or larger size to determine the best fit.
